FALL FESTIVAL

The Mina Fall Fest will be October 21, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Mina Elementary. The GT students will be sponsoring the Silent Auction once again. Please help by sending donations of supplies and/or funds to help make some themed baskets for the auction. Last year the auction was a HUGE success!!! Fundraising helps to pay for our GT Spring Field Trip. The main place I have been looking at this year is the "Behind the Scenes" education program at Sea World in San Antonio. So, hopefully, we can make this happen!! Thanks in advance!!

Voki

I was just wondering if any of you have been able to try making a VOKI at home. If so, please send me a copy. I would love to see it!!!

Also, next year, I am going to make a different blog for every grade level. I will expect you to help me monitor it. Of course, if you are in 5th grade next year... you should read them all and then add your comments.

I heard some of you are reading the poems in the Austin Statesman for the May reading program offered by them. If you lost your paper for this, please let me know and I will get you a new one. Remember, they are giving prizes to the people who complete the reading log.

More later..... The computer I am on right now is very limited in what it can do!!

Barbara Bush

I hope everyone enjoyed the Barbara Bush video conference as much as I did. I am so proud of Jordan. She did a great job asking the question chosen from our school.

I really admire Mrs. Bush and think that she is doing wonderful things to help others. I liked how she stressed the importance of being able to read. Also, I like how she points out that parents are the first teachers of their children.

I thought her puppy dog was adorable. It sure was patient and very well behaved.

Let me hear from you on what you thought. Also, what else would you like to know after hearing from Barbara Bush?

Barbara Bush Video Conference

I am so excited about the upcoming video conference with Barbara Bush tomorrow. It is quite an honor to be able to have one of our students ask Mrs. Bush a question during the conference. I am thrilled that this video conference will be recorded and placed in the George Bush Library for future generations to see. I also can't believe we will all get a free book sent to us after it is over. History.... and we will be a part of it!
